Huggable Hearts

We want to host a big dinner party in support of local charites and non-profit organizations.

Our idea is ‘Come dine with us’, a dinner party every 6 weeks to help raise funds for local charities and non-profit organizations.

The Idea stemmed from Al Brown and the Restaurant Association, ‘Cooking up a storm’ in support of those impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle. We just absolutely loved how this brought communities together and how much support was shown to those who needed it most and that is why we want to continue giving back to those around us.

We have partnered with Huggable Hearts - Huggable Hearts a family-run organisation that provides comfort to New Zealand families who are experiencing or who have experienced the loss of a baby.

They make special, customised fabric Hearts for the birthweight of precious angels gone too soon.

This is their small way of offering comfort and support to our fellow angel baby families, in the hope that it will remind them that they are not alone. It can also help to create much-needed special memories of their gorgeous baby and be a physical connection for them.

They use Minky, fleece, and flannel fabrics, in addition to donated blankets and wraps which they up-cycle.

They can also make Huggable Hearts extra special by using material from a blanket or item that the family provides.

Their Hearts are filled with a lot of love, for the angel's weight (if the weight is not known they will use an approximate weight to the age).

Rice is their main weight component for the hearts and they also upcycle fabric leftovers from dressmakers and textile companies which they cut up or shred and use as a part of the filling too.

In addition to the handmade hearts, they also hold connection events and creative workshops as added support to the families throughout the year.

Come dine with us and Huggable Hearts on the 28th of February.

Doors will open from 6.30 pm with dinner served at 7.00 pm.

We will serve a two-course comfort food menu for a set price of $69 with $30 from every sale going directly to Huggable Hearts.

It’s one sitting, with a two-course set menu, just like you were coming around to a friend’s place for dinner.

It’s about comfort food and bringing like-minded folk around a table for the evening. Where sitting around a table and having kai, is bringing people together to support, listen and be there for each other.

I know times are still bloody tough for many in our beloved hospitality industry, but we still need to think about others and the role we play in the community.
